Sydney-based pop duo Cat & Calmell, release their new single, a cover of Zedd’s track, ‘Clarity’

Today, Sydney-based pop duo Cat & Calmell, release their new single, a cover of Zedd’s track, ‘Clarity’. First performed while supporting Camila Cabello and Reneé Rapp on their recent Australian tours, the duo’s high-energy, hyper-pop interpretation of the track saw it quickly become a fan favourite in their live sets.

When looking for a cover for their setlist, Cat & Calmell explain that ‘Clarity’ had the unmistakable nostalgia and high-energy they wanted to bring to the stage. The pair worked alongside Perfectworld (Lucy Blomkamp), who also produced their recent EP LIVE LAUGH COOL STAR, to make the song their own. Leaning into the nostalgic electronic pop energy of the 2000s music they grew up on, the duo transform the timeless song into a hyper-pop anthem while maintaining its emotional intensity.

“Whether that's more pop-leaning or electronic, we love to sprinkle little influences from our childhood as an homage to those little girls who dreamt of being pop stars,” explain Cat & Calmell.

The cover arrives alongside a new visualiser, self-directed by Cat & Calmell and edited by MP4Oscar.
