“In one fell swoop Hex went from underground hype to mainstream phenomenon.” – CLASH

“Blending elements of afro-swing akin to the likes of J Hus and Not3s, it’s a certified club banger that it’s slightly impossible not to dance along to.” – Wonderland

“Sometimes a talent that blows you away seemingly comes from absolutely nowhere.” – GRM Daily

“In the essence of comparison, recent Stateside newcomer Post Malone appears to be the most transferrable signpost, with Hex's fluid style crossing genre boundaries over soft strings and 808s.” – Complex UK

“Hex is definitely going to be one to watch out for.” – GUAP

Sounds Like: Going to a freestyle rap battle night that is specifically pop-culture themed.” – Highsnobiety

“Shaping up as Nottingham’s answer to The Weeknd.” – Q

The release of 'Gene Kelly' saw Nottingham newcomer HEX make a huge impression as he became a hot tip for 2018. Compared to an eclectic mix of the scene’s influential names, HEX also landed radio support from MistaJam at Radio 1Xtra while Yungen jumped on-board for a remix of the track.

This time around, HEX goes in hard with heavyweight bass and beats adding fire to his self-produced nocturnal ambience. It’s up to the minute contemporary, but its groove also possesses a throwback feel that adds a timeless quality to the track.

Lyrically it finds him full of confidence after reinventing his style following heartbreak. “Wore my heart on my sleeve, backfired on me,” he begins. But now? “I’m too Carlos Santana smooth.”

Born and raised in NottinghamHex found the distinguished melodic sound you can hear on his 2017debut track 'Me, Myself and I' and the follow-up 'Limitless'.

The two tracks marked a departure from rapping and into a new, atmospheric, starkly emotional world ofHex’s own. Where other acts meander around the surface level, Hex burrows into the core of a feeling, emerging from the depths with a distinct snapshot from the roots of an emotion.

After dropping ‘Gene Kelly’HEX closed 2017 by joining Morgan Keyz on Rinse FM's UK Rap Show.
