AVELINO

ANNOUNCES DEBUT ‘PLAYLIST’

NO BULLSHIT

#NOBULLSHIT

FOCUS TRACK: '1 IN A MILLION'

Having firmly cemented his Gr8ness with the explosive release of single Energy featuring long-time friends and grime heavyweights Stormzy and Skepta; London’s Avelino announces the release of No Bullshit. [Released 27th October 2017]

As candid as the title may suggest, the 12-track playlist affirms Avelino’s status as one of the finest MC’s to grace the scene. With his trademark flow and lyrical dexterity, Avelino weaves an effortless synergy between melody and rapping, unfettered by expectation.

It’s this unburdened attitude that has seen the prolific 24-year-old amass accolades from peers, media and fans alike since his rise to notoriety with mixtape Iconic Ambition in 2014; including Best Newcomer nomination at the MOBO’s Awards, named on BBC 1Xtra’s Hot for 2017 list and his lauded Fire In The Booth sitting at over half a million views, with baited excitement for his FITB Part II. Remarkably Avelino’s FITB with Wretch 32, under their moniker of Young Fire Old Flame has amassed over 9 million views making it one of the most watched in the series history.

Taster-track Origami set the precedent with its release earlier this summer; a song of two-halves, it’s a melding pot of hip hop, grime and jazz timbres that sees the demiurgic rapper flit seamlessly from spitting bars to sung melodies.

“Never had love, but I had heart” reveals Avelino on U Can Stand Up which features fellow newcomer, Dave (SantanDave); a sentiment that carries throughout No Bullshit. From straight-talking rap playbook pieces like title track No Bullshit, to streetwise storytelling on It’s A Moovie and the dembow-flecked party anthems, 1 In A Million and Sweet Luv - that samples garage-pioneer MJ Coles’ Sincere; No Bullshit is abundant with the measured integrity and thoughtful essence that’s captured so many tastemakers’ attentions to date.

Described as a “playlist”, Avelino envisions No Bullshit as a fluid concept; a project that can mature and change shape over time, bucking the penitentiary of the traditional album format.

No Bullshit ends with an empathic statement of intent. A final tune, that elsewhere might be simply called an ‘outro’ but in Avelino’s hands becomes the Outro 2 Da Beginning. This, it would seem, is just the start…
