Che'Nelle, the international R&B star currently taking Europe, Japan, Australia (where she's supporting Kanye West on tour) and South-East Asia by storm, is about to hit the UK in category 5 style. Her debut single, 'I Fell In Love With The DJ' has been signed to Positiva/EMI ahead of her first album, 'Things Happen For A Reason', set to follow at the end of this year.

The consummate late-Noughties girl with the whole package; Che'Nelle's hands-on style (she writes her own beats and rhymes) is a prime example of the new DIY generation. Born to parents of mixed heritage (Malaysian, Indian and Dutch) in a village in Sabah, Malaysia, she moved to Perth in Australia when 10 years old. Thrust into a completely different culture, she soon found herself opened up to a whole new world of influences, including hip-hop and R&B.

Fast-forward to last year and Che'Nelle's self-produced demos spread like wildfire on the internet via forums and Myspace, reaching the ears of worldwide music industry giants like Jason Flom, who made her his first signing after moving to Virgin Records in the US.

Already a hit songwriter in her home country, she completed her debut album, 'Things Happen For A Reason', with production help from hit-making A-listers including Sean Garrett (Beyonce's "Ring The Alarm", Pussy Cat Dolls' "Buttons", Ciara's "Goodies", Chris Brown's "Run It"), Rich Harrison (Amerie "1 Thing", Beyonce's "Crazy In Love") and a list of hot up-and-comers from New York, Toronto, London and Australia.

'I Fell In Love With The DJ' is already a staple on UK pirate and specialist stations alike. With forthcoming house and bassline mixes, expect this one to fly.
