Chart-topping DJ and producer Route 94 has joined forces with future alt-pop icon L Devine on new single ‘Sad Songs’, out on Friday 30th October.

An energetic, emotion-tinged club jam, ‘Sad Songs’ combines L Devine’s pitch-perfect vocals with euphoric piano chords and a rousing bassline. It marks Route 94’s first single release of the new decade.

Sad Songs is a story about the highs and lows of love and the human need for escapism that comes with these emotions. Route 94 explains. With this record I felt it was time to follow up ‘My Love’ properly and I am blessed to present Sad Songs.
Speaking about the single, L Devine says:
Sad Songs is a perfect breakup anthem. For me, it embodies the stage of heartbreak where nothing could possibly hurt more – so much so, that you feel free and completely let go of your inhibitions. As a teenager, my first nights out in clubs were soundtracked by Route 94 so it feels so good to be able to collaborate with him on this record.
Route 94 burst onto the scene in 2014 with ‘Your Love’ featuring Jess Glynne, a smash single that hit #1 in the UK Singles charts and went platinum. He has since released music on some of the most respected names in dance music, such as Defected, Hot Creations and Crosstown Rebels, also remixing tracks from MK, Elderbrook and more.

2020 has seen L Devine continue to build upon her growing acclaim for her brand of pioneering pop. Her singles ‘Boring People’ and ‘Don’t Say It’ were both named as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record before being playlisted at BBC Radio 1 and her groundbreaking URL Tour garnered praise across the board, from The Guardian, NME, Vogue, Gay Times, BBC, The Line Of Best Fit and Buzzfeed. L Devine features alongside Tinie on Torren Foot’s single ‘More Life’, currently Adele Roberts Tune of the Week at BBC Radio 1 and building traction at streaming services.

An infectious slice of club energy, ‘Sad Songs’ sees Route 94 and L Devine bring some emotion onto the dancefloor.
